Workshops &
Residencies

Workshops are tailored to meet the needs and abilities of the participants. The length of  a workshop ranges from a half-hour visit after a show to a series of workshops or a residency culminating in the students writing and putting on  original performances. Workshop possibilities include theater games, mime, storytelling, and circus skills. Many school residencies are centered around a theme or curriculum goal. Michael has designed residencies around topics ranging from migration, to conflict resolution, to New England cotton mills . Workshops and residencies can happen in a school setting, and are also suitable for amateur and professional organizations serving adults and children alike. Michael has done hundreds of residencies and workshops nationally and internationally- from New England to Alaska to Switzerland, and everywhere in between!

The workshops were both meaningful and fun-filled and all have a better understanding of mime and clowning.

Michael Zerphy's work is rich and full of subtlety. His work in both performance and instruction is of exceptionally high quality.

Peter W. Deftos, Principal
Marshfield High School
Marshfield, MA

As a result of numerous requests from the student body, I invited Michael back to Marshfield High School...to conduct a workshop for approximately 100 members of the Drama Club. His performance was excellent and very appropriate for a high school student. I would highly recommend him.

Connie O'Brien, Teacher
Center Elementary School

True creative behavior comes from the clowning and imagery Michael models so well... The open-ended and divergent thinking your program arouses leaves an awareness of how fantasy can and should broaden the lives of all of us, child and adult alike.

Theresa M. Bellini, Administrator
C.H. McCann Technical School
North Adams, MA

We were especially impressed with the rapport Michael quickly established with 400 students and how well your program related to their age and interests.
